Thanks for all your comments

Well it is nice to be back in the fold, I have missed posting and making cards.  Your comments have inspired me to get back on track and I have worked hard today to make something new and not a card.  Wendy http://spanishcrafter.blogspot.co.uk/ gave me an idea with her plaques for her slimming group. I attend a group as well and was telling Nicola our consultant about them when out of the blue she ask if I could do something for Wednesday, that is the night the Slimmer of the Month is announced (not me), and she wanted to present the winners with a little something.  She holds two groups on a Wednesday and Thursday so four plaques were required. Had a look on the Internet to see what was on offer to give me inspiration and this is what I came up with, with items I had to hand.

Card from Creative Expressions
Spellbinders Grand Labels One die
Spellbinders Ribbon Banners Lg die
Xcut die (can't find the name) for weight record
Creative Expression Twine
Had some blackboard coasters so used them
Chalk tied with twine and fixed with Scotch Fasteners
Butterflies are punched

I made them all the same as there was not much time to get things together to make the plaques.  It is amazing what you can find when you search around.  I don't know where the coasters came from but I had to purchase the chalk, every thing else was around the house.  After browsing the Internet I have picked up some ideas if anyone shows an interest in purchasing a plaque to record their weight loss so another project on hold to see if there is any comers. I enjoy projects but  now must get down to card making for a wee while.

The weather here today has been miserable, heavy rain all day but luckily it cleared away late afternoon when it was my turn to walk the dogs.  Hubby did the dishes and I walked the dog, I got the better deal I think.

It's my birthday (Oh no not 65) on Tuesday and hubby bought me a new PC running Windows 8, whole new ball game to me but I am trying, some say very trying. LOL. I am having difficulty downloading my photographs but will give anything a try to get what I need.  I will have to invite my niece along to give me some instructions, or even the boy next door who is constantly giving me hints on my IPad.  The youngsters are all up to date on this technology so some brains will be picked.

That's it for now, only I forgot to give an update on my mum, she is doing well spend the first week with us at the caravan and managed very well but the second week was great for me as my sister came and took my mum home with her and gave us a much needed break.

Take care.

  2. Great plaques Wilma. Love the idea of the blackboard coasters and the chalk.

Good to hear you had a good holiday and a wee break from looking after your Mum. It would be a nice change for her too, having a week at the caravan and a week with your sister.

It's been really wet here today too but now it's slightly brighter!

  8. Good morning Wilma,
Happy Birthday for tomorrow .. Here`s a wee Birthday .... HUG!!!
What a fantastic idea, they are beautiful. If I were just a little nearer I would join your group, be "really good" in hope to win one of these. I could do to loose a few pounds, that would be a great incentive.
    Have a Great Day

  9. These are marvellous Wilma. Happy birthday - hope you have a wonderful day. Lucky you getting a new computer. I hear that windows 8 takes some getting used to. I have enough trouble with an ipad.

  13. Hi Wilma,
such super plaques. A great idea for Slimming World. Did I ever mention my daughter lost six and half stone with them. She has gone from a size 26 to a size 10. That was 2years ago now.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  15. Happy birthday Wilma, I hope you've been spoilt rotten!
Good to hear your Mum is a bit better too.
I'm loving the plaques you've made and such a great idea...one thing I regret before loosing the weight is taking photos. My pal took one every month and you can see her gradually loose...brill.
    Happy crafting, hugs
    Erika.
