Another Card for Fraser

Hooray the snow is gone but we have strong northerly winds which is making it feel really cold.  I feel more cold now than when we had the snow. How I hate our weather I want/need some sunshine.  We did have a short show of the sun a couple of times this week but it never lasted.  Oh shut up Wilma all you do these days is talk about the weather, note to self you are in Scotland what more do you expect.

Right moan over, I hope all you lovely bloggers are well and creating some beautiful cards/projects.  The lovely jewel box renovated by Christina at http://flowersribbonsandpearls.blogspot.co.uk/ is marvellous, she has turned and old box into a work of art, how I wish I had the imagination and knowhow to to what she has done.  There are loads of examples of gorgeous work out there and I have spent an awful lot of time browsing instead of crafting.

This is my second card for Fraser, it is for my mother to give to him.  I made one the other day and when my hubby saw it he said it is crooked.  I looked and yep he was right but I was quite proud of what I had done but you cannot give wonky cards out.  So it was back to the drawing board and number two was produced.  I did not like it as much as the wonky one even though I used practically all the same materials I just could not get the same look.  Anyway enough of me here is the card

Ingredients
8x8 card
Papers and card from my stash
Image LOTV die cut
Sentiment LOTV stamp
Spellbinder border die
Tim Holtz Distressed Ink
Pearls from stash

I just adore LOTV images that I am now going to invest in some stamps and colour them myself.  Will have to purchase more Promarkers to build up my collection but am feeling quite adventurous now I have tried colouring in some digi images I downloaded as freebies.  I have watched a few tutorials on colouring images and have them as reference if required.. Jak Heath www.jakheath.com
has a great tutorial on Promark Knowhow which I have found really helpful.

Not a lot happening in my life just now so I will close now and get ready for bed after I have tidied up my craft area.  I have been cutting out some dies for some cards I want to start tomorrow and the bits are all over the floor.  Some dies can be really messy not matter how careful your are at removing the card/paper.

Take care ladies and wrap up warm.

Sorry forgot to welcome my new follower Sue, great to have you onboard.

Fraser's 4th Birthday Card

How wonderful it is to read all the generous comments posted on my cards.  It makes my day to read your comments and browse your Blogs.  I only wish when someone looks at our cards they leave a comment and then we would really get a review on our work.  When I see 50 odd visits and only 17 comments it makes me wonder what the other views thought of my cards, Oh well not much I can do about that but believe it ladies I really love reading your comments.  I have been a bit lax at leaving comments myself this week.  Although I have had loads of time to craft I have been mooning around thinking about it and not doing much about it.

My card today is for my nephew's son Fraser who will be four years old on 12 Feb, that was my sons birthday as well so it means a lot to me. Fraser was born profoundly deaf and has been fitted with Cochlear implants and can hear, now it is just taking time for him to learn to communicate.  His parents use a mixture of sign and speech and you can tell he understands and if he does not want to do anything boy he reacts just the same as a hearing child, tantrum time.  He is a gorgeous, loving little boy and he rules the roost at home as he bosses is two older brothers around and all of us too.

Ingredients

8 X 8 Card
All coloured card and candy from stash
LOTV Image (already coloured) I inked round with Antique Linen Distressed Ink
4 today and name cut on Cricut Mini
Spellbinder Grand Labels One

Thought I would add a bit of interest by showing my two dogs laying around waiting for the snow to go.  They loved it when the snow was fresh but now it is hard and icy, I think it must hurt their paws, as they do not rush to get out any more.

Shaolin and Mei Li wishing the snow would go now

Also there was an unexpected object in the sky today, the sun, and what a difference it made.  Brighten up my spirits and warmed me when walking the dogs.

What is that bright thing in the sky?

Well ladies that's my lot for tonight, I am off to comment on your lovely creations and make another card for Fraser for my Mum to give to him.  I feel I should get my finger out and do more just hope the feeling lasts until I finish browsing and that I am not distracted by anything I find of interest in your blogs ie other sites to visit or suggestions made by you all.

As usual ladies wrap up warm and take care (just looked out the window and we now have a bit of rain so the snow will go soon hopefully).

White on White

I have finally got round to trying a project from Creative Expressions Book which came out late last year.  I have looked at all the projects and have been amazed at the cards produced.  I decided to try a "Guess Who" yes a Sue Wilson card.  This is my interpretation of her card

The light has not been good over the last few days to get a reasonable photo so I have shown two so you can see the full effect

Ingredients

Snow White  Centura Pearl Card
Spellbinders M-Bossibilities Garden Lattice Folder
Spellbinders Label Twenty
Creative Expressions White Organza Ribbon
Spellbinder Rose Creations for Roses and Buds
Spellbinder Floral Ovals for Centre piece
Stamp from Creative Expressions Treasured Memories
Jewelled Organza Circle from stash (bought it ages ago for another project)
Pearls and Gems from stash

This was my first attempt at piercing round a card and I did not get the corners quite right so covered them with a gem.  As I said this is my variation of Sue's card and I quite like it.  I have made a box for it which I have to decorate.

Another day of snow, when will it ever end.  At least the main roads are passable, it is only the side roads that are giving problems.  If we travel two miles down the road, nearer the coast there is no snow and they are wondering what all the fuss is about. Our weather is amazing.  We are forecast a better day tomorrow.  Luckily I was not required to chauffeur my sister today, her husband could not work outdoors and was there to drive her around, boy was I glad.  Let me walk the dogs in this but I hate driving in the snow.

I know this is said very often but I do appreciate reading your comments and read each one eagerly. Who would have believed that I would have so many followers when I first set out on the Blogging path.  Not me.  I spend a lot of my day browsing your posts and looking at some of your followers for more and more inspiration, and there is plenty of that around.

Well ladies take care and wrap up warm.

Warm Hugs all round.

Baby Girl Card

Here goes with Number Two.  Not quite as nice as the last one but I try or maybe trying to others.  I love reading all your comments and only wish I could meet you all for a chat,  I have met Patricia http://patricia-summerhousecrafts.blogspot.co.uk/ and her sister Hazel who has not fully taken on Blogland but comments on our efforts and they are both absolutely lovely.  Two very down to earth, talented in their own right (you should see the gift baskets Hazel makes up, gorgeous) and pleasant ladies.  We hope to meet up again soon.

Well here goes with my card

Ingredients

Well an assortment of bits from here and there
Card could Hunkydory or Kanban
Pink satin effect backing card from Create and Craft
Bootee image a download from Cuddly Buddly
Coloured with Promarkers and bow glittered
Gingham card Forever Friend New Arrival Paper Pad
Sentiments and peel offs from stash

Again Pink bootees have shown up a bit bright but is OK in real life.

Sorry I will have to pause there the dogs are nipping my leg to get out for their last comfort break.  Funny since the snow arrived I have had no problem getting them to go out because they love the snow.

Back again, Mei Li had a  snowball fight with the lad next door.  Well he threw snowballs and Mei Lie attempted to catch them. WOW exercise for her while I stand and watch with Shaolin, he is not the Keep Fit type, like his mum.

Another cold and wintry day, not a lot of snow today but predicted loads for tomorrow.  Oh no how I hate this cold. I long for long hot sunny days, well I can dream, may have to emigrate to achieve that.  I have a busy day tomorrow but it is all weather dependant, if it snows then I will not be doing a thing.  My mother has an appointment at the optician at 1100 am and my sister has an interview with her work because she has been off with her leg which is showing no signs of improvement, at 1300 at Glenrothes.  Cutting it fine because in between the opticians and work interview we have also to pick up my sisters grandson from playgroup.  Oh the joys of being a chauffeur.

Your comments mean a lot to me and I love to browse through your lovely posts picking up ideas and differing ways of doing things.  Some of the links provided by you ladies have lead me on a magical mystery tour, opening my eyes to many new ways and projects that quite often my mind is in a whirl.  Better that way than leading a non interesting life.

Well ladies as norm wrap up warm and take care.

Baby Boy Card

What's all this with the baby cards. Well I saw, a wee while ago, a card with bootees on Christine's Blog http://christinescardsandcrafts.blogspot.co.uk/ and as I was trying to convince myself I could colour in if I tried, I though this image from Cuddly Buddly Digi Stamp - Booties - would be a good place to start.  I purchased Promarkers from Amazon and today I sat down and coloured in my bootees.  Made two cards, one for a boy and another for a girl.  Felt a bit childish colouring in, brought back childhood memories of trying hard not to go out the line and don't press too hard.  I now submit my first colouring in project.  I have been amazed by the way the stamps from LOTV have been coloured and you can choose the colours you want rather than use the pre coloured images, so onward and upward, the only way is up. Watch this space, may take a while before I try another project, depends on the comments and hint you lovely ladies decide to impart.  I always sit on tender hooks waiting to see the comments on my cards and so far they have all be favourable, very favourable.

Ingredients

8 x 8 Card
Papers from Forever Friends New Arrival and Gift Wrapped Paper Pads
Bootees  digi image downloaded from Cuddly Buddly coloured with Promarkers
Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles Die
Ribbon from local Reject Store
Gems and sentiment from stash.

The lemon ribbon on the bootees looks very vibrant but in real life it is more subdued.

Weather is horrid that is why I have been sitting crafting today, other than taking the dogs for a walk I am not venturing out in that snow.  I still have to decide what to have for dinner, I usually have it all prepared ready to cook but today I am not inspired to cook anything.  I made a big pot of Chicken Noodle Soup yesterday so that's one course catered for, what we are having for the main is open to debate.

I received my give away from Kath at http://kath-allthatglitter.blogspot.co.uk/ today and boy will I have fun playing with the punches, stamps and papers included in the parcel. Thanks Kath and Buddy I really appreciate being a winner!!!.

I will leave the Baby Girl card to post tomorrow but I intend to make something else tonight, don't know what yet but there will be more cards to post.

Your comments are greatly appreciated, and I look forward to reading them.  I have been a bit lazy lately but will get round all your gorgeous blogs as soon as I can. You ladies are all so talented.

As usual wrap up warm and take care.

Another new born card

Good afternoon ladies, hope we are all well today. Boy is it cold and we have a light covering of snow.  My dogs just love the cold conditions and shovelling the snow with their noses, not like me, I am a sunshine girl.

WOW I never believed I would have so many followers, it gives me a "feel good" feeling knowing so many people warrant my cards a look and then to comment on them, and the comments are so encouraging it makes me feel I can make worthwhile cards.

I have a lovely lady in the village who just adores my style of card and even sends them to Italy to her family and friends and my sister is forever showing my cards to her friends so I have a steady flow of customers.  Better get my finger out soon as my stocks are very low.  I like to keep examples for people to see and then I have an idea of what type of card they are after and customise it as necessary.

Here is my second "New Born Girl" card.

Ingredients

8 X 8 White card
Pink card from stash embossed with
Spellbinders M-Bossibilities Garden Lattice Folder
Baby Onsey cut with Cricut Mini
Onsey paper from Forever Friends New Arrival paper pad
Ribbon, sentiments and pearls from stash

I feel this Onsey could have been trimmed with lace to give it a softer look, we live and learn, too late now.

I must be lucky on this blogger as I have won a marvellous give away from Kath and Buddy at http://kath-allthatglitter.blogspot.co.uk/  she was having a tidy up and offered some different give aways and I was lucky enough to be drawn for the Martha Stewart Punches and Nit Wit papers and some other items.  The Blog Candy I received from Sue at Plantet Susie was amazing and now I cannot wait to play with the punches Kath will be sending in her parcel.  How Lucky am I?

Earlier this month I said I had a go at making the Origami Boxes and said I would post them but I feel I can do better and will make more and decorate them properly and then they will be worthy to be posted.  I don't want to lower the wonderful standards set by you all.  I am in awe sometimes when I see the beautiful cards made and posted.

That's it for tonight ladies, hope you are all well and safe.

Take care and wrap up warm.

Snow has arrived

The snow forecast has arrived, not a lot, but enough to make life difficult.  The dogs love it, they run and shovel it with their noses and roll around.  Why is it when I want to go for a walk I get vacant stares but when there is snow on the ground they are raring to go.  I have had a lazy few days. I have been playing with the Tonic floral delight die set again and I was asked by my sister to make two New Born Girl cards.  Since I had none ready I went up to my craft desk full of inspiration and when I started to craft it disappeared.  I sat and played with paper and dies and got nowhere.  Eventually my brain tried a feeble attempt at moving in the right direction and I produced No 1, now for No 2.  No matter how hard I tried to pull a card together I failed.  I took the dogs for a walk and then sat down for No 2.  I finally succeeded but am not too happy with the results but my sister is and that's the main thing.

Here is No 1.

Ingredients

Pink Card from stash
Papers were from stash (I think the large one was from Hunkydory)
Spellbinders Grand Decorative Circles One
Spellbinders Persian Accents for Corners
Image from LOTV
Sentiment ribbon and pearls from stash

I will post the other one later (not very impressed with it).

I am enjoying the Create and Craft shows from CHA but have had to sit on my hands for the Spellbinder dies and embossing folders even though I really, really want them but I have spent enough over the last few months and have to use what I have before I buy any more.  The picture frame, from Spellbinders,  presented to Nigel last night using the shell embossing folder was amazing.  They have brought out some wonderful dies and folders this time.  There are some great presentations from other American Companies which look so interesting too.

Now I have broken the ice with the two cards I have struggled to make I hope I can finally get my act together and get a move on with my card making as I need to stock up.  Maybe the weather has a lot to do with the lack of motivation, if the sun came out for a while it might brighten up my mood.  Maybe it is just a kick up the backside I need, any volunteers?  HeeHee bet there are a few willing people out there.  Hubby was the first to volunteer but I gave him one of my looks and he backed off, he knows better.

Hope you are all well or getting better in some cases, and welcome to my new followers. I keep forgetting to thank you all but it is amazing that  I have so many followers and I just love looking at your wonderful creations, so in awe of some of the great cards and projects.  I feel so humble.

Take care ladies and wrap up warm in this weather.

Hugs all round

Has my Mojo returned?

It seems such a long time since my last post but its only been a couple of days. My one and only post this year what a disgrace. I have tried and tried to produce a decent card but all my attempts have gone in the recycle bin. But today I finally got down and dirty, well produced a card. I just adore the teal card from Creative Expressions that this card is again using teal and milk card stock.   I did not think I had a good enough photo of my card but this one is just about right, sorry about the background shows my craft desk, untidy as usual.  Sue Wilson's http://particraft.blogspot.co.uk  influence once more with this card, thanks Sue.  Michelle http://happy2craft.blogspot.co.uk will be the first to point this out as she is a fan too.

Ingredients

8x8 White card
Creative Expressions Milk and Teal card
Spellbinders Fantastic Flourish Three for corners
Spellbinders Rose Creations
Spellbinders Foliage
Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Garden Lattice folder
Spellbinders Classic Scallop
Pearls and sentiment from stash

I think Patricia http://patricia-summerhousecrafts.blogspot.co.uk will be proud of my roses as I followed her tutorial and just love how they have turned out.  Another project I have been trying is making flowers from Tonic Floral Delights Die Set.  I have only make the cornflowers and lilies so far but have been using other Spellbinder dies as well.  Here is a wee selection.  I used the cornflowers on my last post.

Another project I have been trying, thanks to Patricia's influence again, is the Origami Boxes which can be found at Card-Making-Magic http://www.card-making-magic.com/cardmakingtutorial.html but I could not get a decent photograph to show them tonight, will show them at a later date.  I did not realise how easy they are to make, I imagined them to be difficult but not too many folds and there you have the boxes. Card-making-magic is a great site for ideas for a relative newby like me, I kept Oohing and Aaaaaahing at every click of the mouse.

I have been browsing through all your blogs recently and boy there are loads of beauties produced by you ladies, where oh where do you get our ideas. I tend to spend more time each day browsing as I cannot wait to see what is being posted.

I think after tonight I am back in the groove (a sixties expression) and feel ready to complete some more cards, can't wait till tomorrow to see if it lasts.

Well ladies looks like snow is forecast for the weekend so wrap up warm and take care out there and thank you all for the lovely comments and advice I receive from you, it is much appreciated.

Are we back to normal yet?

Well it is great to finally get things back to normal once more.  Christmas and New Year just flew by, I don't know where my time went. On reflection I feel as though I have not achieved much but lazed around, visited family and friends. Shopped at the sales but did not get much, ate lots and now I am back eating healthily.  I have a weight problem, no I have an eating problem, I love food, so to keep it under control I attend Slimming World classes in our village.  It is a friendly group which I enjoy attending.  We have a laugh and have tasting evenings where everyone brings something they have cooked and it gives us all a chance to discuss ways of eating healthily and trying different recipes.

My sister in law passed away on 27th December after suffering with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma which she tried hard to fight but unfortunately she lost the battle.  Also it was 26 years on the 29th December  that my only son passed away and I really have not enjoyed Christmas and New Year since then.  He was 18 and had had Rheumatoid Arthritis since he was 9 and then developed Ulcerated Colitis, he had to have an Illiostomy at age 12.  Had been on steroids since contracting the Arthritis and they were starting to affect his bones etc and then he had pneumonia which he could not fight off .  So that is why I get down at this time of year..

On a happier note I have made a card, yes a card.  It has been a while and I though I had lost the Mojo but my sister needed a 60th birthday card quickly and I knuckled down and this is my creation.

Ingredient
8 x 8 white card
Creative Expressions Teal and Milk card
Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles
Spellbinders Foliage
Blue card for flowers from stash
Spellbinders Persian Accents for Border
Tonic Floral Delights Die - Cornflower
Crystal Stickers Pearls
Sentiment typed on PC

I feel I should have embossed the Teal background card. Lesson for future.

I am so happy to be back blogging and am settling down to beginning another card or try something different, who knows what I will come up with.  I have so enjoyed seeing all the post over the festive period and have picked up a few ideas.  Your comments mean so much to me because a few months ago I was not aware of this Blog and thanks to encouragement from Patricia http://patricia-summerhousecrafts.blogspot.co.uk/ I have been able to post my cards/projects.

Well ladies that's it for now. Take care and wrap up warm.
